- Lot Description
Java, circa 13th century, almost certainly a tone bar from what must have been a large and very fine instrument. One end terminating in a seahorse, the other in a fierce makara head. Custom stand. Fine condition, with rich green patina. Lg. 14 1/2 in. Cf. A very similar example but with only one figural end sold at Christie's Amsterdam, December 15, 2003, lot 217.
