- Lot Description
An important Northern Plains Indian gun: Remington rolling block number 1 black power cartridge rife, modified and decorated with brass tack work, with an applied copper band on the fore stock, marked "Remington¦ NY USA," and with patent dates from 1868 to 1871. The firearm has been ethnographically modified with a shortened barrel and stock. The firearm exhibits excellent patina and fore stock pommel wear associated with extended use on a horse saddle. Lg. 29 ½ in. Provenance: Private collection, CT.
