- Lot Description
Carved of hard wood, with scarifications on the chest, abdomen, and face, such figures were used as village guardians, and are extremely rare, the figure is scarified with typical Tiv scars and with a representation of a lizard, also with ladder designs on the face, dark brown patina. Ht. 34 ½ in. With certificate of expertise from William Fagg, dated December 10, 1984. Provenance: Private collection, Phoenix, AZ; Wally Zolman, Switzerland; Mort Lipkin, London, UK.
