Circa 1870's, the wood back board wrapped in hide, with a crescent of multicolored beadwork at the top rim, the cradle bead decorated with hide fringes. Ht. 30, wd. 13 1/4 in.
Provenance: Private collection, Santa Fe, New Mexico; Harry Gibbons Cavenaugh, (1843-1919). Served in the army between 1861 and 1864, and was honorably mustered out in 1865. He re-enlisted with the 37th U.S. Infantry in 1866 and was sent to Camp Douglas, Utah territory. Cavenaugh was stationed at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City between 1871 and 1874.
