Details: Meditative Awareness of Inner Beauty (Framed), Signed Open Edition, Giclée Print on Fine Art Cotton Canvas, 15.75” x 22.5”, 2022
Description: This painting presents the meditative state of the mind. The superficial faces of peaceful and wrathful that would usually affect us are in the state of no difference and in a calm state. The skull in the painting represents death and serves as a reminder of impermanence. The female figure symbolizes elevating the female qualities of wisdom and away from our lustful and objectifying thoughts. The interconnectedness links represent the interconnectedness we share beyond any aspect of life.
About the Artist: Anay Ngawang Chodak is a Tibetan artist, devoted Buddhist practitioner, and direct descendant of the Repa Dorje Chang (one of Jetsun Milarepa’s yogi disciple) lineage. He is a Tibetan traditional thangka master and a Tibetan contemporary artist who lives between Kathmandu, Nepal and New York City. Chodak’s artistic approach reimagines ancient Buddhist artforms through modern interpretation and representation and a fusion of styles that incorporate Newa Paubha, Kashmiri-style Alchi, and traditional Tibetan artistic styles.
