Offered here is a premier example of the exceedingly rare 100 Engagement General Assault Badge (Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen mit Einsatzzahl 100).
The front retains nearly all of the dark burnished finish to the eagle, bayonet, and grenade emblem, while the surrounding gold oakleaf wreath displays deep original luster with subtle fading to zinc base metal beneath, consistent with period aging. The "100" numeral box retains black paint in its recesses, and the reverse features tight aluminum rivets, properly crimped hardware, and a fully functional banjo-style pin.
Instituted in June 1943, the "100 Engagements" badge was awarded only to combat troops who had participated in one hundred separate engagements, a staggering number that often required several years of front-line service.
Only a fraction of the tens of thousands of standard General Assault Badges were ever issued in numbered forms (25, 50, 75, and 100), making the 100-count version extraordinarily rare. These were awarded across various combat branches, including Pioniere (engineers), Panzerjäger (tank hunters), artillerymen, and others who did not qualify for Infantry or Panzer Assault Badges but saw direct combat.
This is not just a badge, it's a monument to survival, endurance, and frontline grit under some of WWII's harshest conditions. For advanced collectors of German military awards, this represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to acquire one of the most elite decorations of the Wehrmacht, in collector-grade condition.
