Joseph Bohler is a Western and plein-air painter with over thirty years of experience, and trained under noted artists Bob Lougheed and Richard Schmid. His work is known for its realistic yet expressive depiction of Western landscapes, figures, and wildlife, often painted on location. Bohler has been recognized with membership in the National Academy of Western Art, winning their Silver Medal for Watercolor in 1992, and is a life member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, as well as a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and other watermedia organizations. His paintings have been exhibited widely, including multiple appearances at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame’s Prix de West show, the Masters of the American West at the Autry Museum, two-man shows at the C. M. Russell Museum and the Gilcrease Museum, where his works are held in permanent collections. He has won multiple Best of Show awards at the C. M. Russell Auction, and his commissioned portrait of Tex Ritter hangs permanently at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, highlighting his stature in contemporary Western art.
