Vintage Mexican folk art Moro (Moor) dance mask, used in the Danza de los Moros y Cristianos (Dance of the Moors and Christians), hand-painted and carved soft wood construction, with moving mouth piece, strung for hanging, circa early 20th century
height 17 in. x width 9 in. x depth 7.5 in.
Provenance: The Estate collection of late teacher and humanitarian Douglas Rhodenbaugh, from his historic downtown Austin, Texas home. Mr. Rhodenbaugh spent decades traveling throughout Latin America assuming his vast collection of folk and fine arts, often buying pieces directly from the artisans he met on his travels.
