- Lot Description
A mid-century signed Ruser 14k yellow gold lighter, executed in the firm’s distinctive bark-texture finish and reflecting the bold organic styling favored in postwar American luxury design. The rectangular lighter features deeply striated vertical texturing with contrasting polished highlights, creating a sculptural surface effect characteristic of high-end Beverly Hills jewelers during the 1950s and 1960s. The lighter is signed “Ruser” and marked “14K.”
The lighter is engraved with the initials “R.F.S.” to one end and bears the inscription “My Love Always Jean” to the base, suggesting presentation as a personal gift. Ruser became one of the most fashionable American luxury jewelers of the period, known for producing imaginative gold accessories and jewelry for Hollywood clientele and affluent West Coast patrons. Gold accessories of this type were often commissioned as bespoke personal objects.
