A pair of French gilt bronze sconces in the Louis XV style - circa 1900. The Louis XV style (in French, Louis Quinze) is an artistic style, mainly in the decorative arts, corresponding to the reign of Louis XV (1715-1774), which follows the Regency of Philip of Orleans (1715-1723) , a period for which the name "Regency Style" is used. At first, the name "Louis XV Style" referred to a characteristic type of chair, but it was soon extended to all the arts of its time such as this beautiful pair of French gilt bronze sconces.
