November 22, 2025 (Cape Cod, MA) – The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod will be kicking off its annual Deck the Walls Auction on Black Friday, offering art enthusiasts an opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind pieces from some of the region’s top artists.
A total of 18 pieces as well as a 5-night Caribbean getaway for two will be up for bid through Sunday, December 14th just in time for the holiday shopping season.
“We’ve curated pieces that not only speak to the creative talent of our region, but which embody the spirit, vitality, and beauty of the Cape,” said Arts Foundation Executive Director Julie Wake. “Each work of art in this year’s auction will bring joy to any home or office and would make for the perfect holiday gift for a loved one this season.”
The auction is currently available for viewing at

The auction is highlighted by Jo Hay’s (represented by Carolyn Kramer Gallery, Provincetown, MA) oil canvas painting, Grande Dame Anne Packard, which depicts a luminary of the Cape’s arts scene — painter Anne Packard who is seen sitting in the living room of her Provincetown home overlooking Cape Cod Bay.
“I wanted to paint her because she is such an amazing force of a human being and a woman, particularly,” said Hay, who was selected as the Arts Foundation’s inaugural Artist of the Year in 2022. “It was like painting royalty from Provincetown.”
Pieces range from a bright mixed media sculpture (Bloom by Jackie De Ruyter of Brewster) made of fiber to a whimsical cow (Party Cow by Trevor Mikula of Provincetown).
There are traditional Cape Cod scenes — Exploring the Dunes by Sergio Roffo, Soft Light by Kenneth Hawkey, and Late Autumn Sunset by Monica Rozak — that showcase the natural beauty of Cape Cod.
Derek Macara of Provincetown, is included in this year’s auction, bringing one of his quintessential ocean scenes, Cloudy Afternoon, which have made him a favorite of arts collectors around the globe.
“There’s so much beauty here and no shortage of compelling subjects,” Macara said. “The sunsets, the shoreline, the architecture — it’s all incredibly inspiring to paint.”
The Arts Foundation’s 2024 Artist of the Year Julia Cumes is included in this year’s auction with her photograph, Wild Harvester, Wellfleet, MA, which celebrates the region’s connection to the sea and to oyster farming.
This year’s holiday auction carries special significance for the Arts Foundation as they work to restore NEA funds that were abruptly rescinded in May.
Not only will bidders be supporting the artists in the Deck the Walls auction, they will be supporting the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod’s work to strengthen the region’s creative sector through its annual grant giving; its Arts Access program which strives to connect all children to the arts; its Creative Exchange which serves as a professional development program for individuals contributing to the Cape’s arts economy; and its advocacy work to add resources to build a more vibrant, artistic, and welcoming community through arts and culture.
Now in its 38th year, the Arts Foundation serves as the central investment point for all of the arts on Cape Cod and the Islands.
“I think the Arts Foundation is a phenomenal institution and its reach across our community is remarkable,” said Jo Hay. “Each year, its impact grows. I’ve been fortunate to be part of these auctions and events, and it’s clear that their support for artists in our region continues to expand.”
