French, 19th century. A Regence style carved walnut three seat settee or canape comprising 8 French cabriole legs raised on scrolling french toes with acanthus leaf knees joined by conves aprons with rocaille relief decoration to front and sides, with serpentine padded arms with acanthine handgrips, padded serpentine front, and serpentine crest rail with scroll and floral relief decoration, the arms and seat back with serpentine shaped bottom over a small gap above seat, with single conforming down filled seat cushion, the whole with ecru fabric or muslin upholstery. Approximate overall height 41.25", width 78.5", depth 28", seat height with cushion 22", seat depth 27". Provenance: Property of a Private Collection, Atlanta Georgia acquired from Jacqueline Adams Antiques, Atlanta, Georgia, in a private sale on August 4, 2005.
