Continental, 19th century. Large collection of one hundred and twenty-six Grand Tour cast plaster bas relief intaglios or medallion gems, each with gold wrapped borders surrounding circular form depicting profile portrait including depictions of Major General Lord Hutchinson, Nicholas Copernicus, Benjamin Constant, Pierre Paul Royer-Collard and others. Loose medallions contained in three wooden trays with felted interiors. Each measures approximately 1.75" in diameter. Provenance: Bonhams, London, Knightsbridge, Period Design, April 8, 2014 where as sold as part of Lot 395.
Vintage condition. Most with foxing or oxidation and soiling. Would benefit from cleaning. One display tray missing side.
