Framed Japanese Silk Embroidered Patriotic Panel, WWI Era
Large rectangular silk embroidered panel depicting a spread-wing American eagle before a shield and draped flags, surmounted by a banner reading “E. Pluribus Unum.” Executed in finely worked silk thread with directional stitching and padded elements, including detailed feathering and geometric flag fields; the eagle with inset glass eye.
Likely produced in Japan for the American market, circa 1910–1920.
Mounted with gilt liner and housed in an ornate molded composition frame with foliate decoration. Rebacked frame
