Imbricated coiled covered basket of low, rounded form, constructed in tightly woven plant fibers. The surface is decorated with a repeating geometric motif in red-brown and dark tones, achieved through imbrication. The matching lid features a central circular aperture and continues the overall design in concentric arrangement.
Likely Northwest Coast, possibly Salish or related tradition, utilizing cedar root foundation with bear grass overlay. The form and open aperture lid suggest use as a storage or processing basket.
Dimensions: 6.25” tall. 10.75” wide. Lid is 9.25” in diameter.
