East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A snuff bottle carved from solidified tree resin - either amber or copal - with a greenstone lid. The form is simple and unadorned, allowing the natural banding and warm translucence of the material to serve as its decoration. The lid is delicately carved in the shape of a flower with raised petals; a spatula, now missing, likely once held it securely in place. Size: 1.75" W x 2.8" H (4.4 cm x 7.1 cm)
