- Lot Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Navajo (Dine), ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A sterling silver belt buckle set with 14 polished turquoise cabochons encircling a dramatic centerpiece composed of a pair of black bear claws flanking coral inlays and silver leaf appliques. The turquoise stones, each in a sawtooth bezel, are accented with silver drop beads and fine stampwork along the outer edge. The reverse is stamped "STERLING" and signed "Carlos", likely referring to a Navajo silversmith active in the mid-20th century. Size: 3" L x 2.3" W (7.6 cm x 5.8 cm); silver quality: 92%; weight: 58.5 grams
