North Africa, Morocco, Central High Atlas Mountains, Middle Jurassic (Bajocian), ca. 170.9 to 168 million years ago. A rare, fossilized ammonite shell cluster of two species, Harpoceras and Phylloceras, preserved on their host rock in full three-dimensional form, excavated to be viewable from all sides, the rock matrix elevates the group naturally and offers a superb multi-dimensional base. This amazing display fossil would make a fantastic interior design accent, which also happens to be an unusual species pairing. The shells belong to Harpoceras sp. ammonite on the left, and a Phylloceras sp. on the right. The latter is uncommon for this sub-zone. Perfect to accompany any advanced fossil marine life collection as well as a stunning and highly unique interior design fossil of pure natural history! Size of matrix: 12.75" L x 6.6" W (32.4 cm x 16.8 cm); larger ammonite: 6.75" Diameter (17.1 cm)
