Rome, early Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A lovely cast-bronze figurine depicting a nude dwarf standing upon an integral crescent-shaped base with delineated legs and an exaggerated phallus hanging in-between. He presents with a dramatic right-leaning pose, grasps a small tool in his right hand, and holds a heavy conical amphora against his left shoulder. The characteristically bulbous head of the dwarf boasts a stylized visage composed of gaunt ovoid eyes, a broad triangular nose, and a petite mouth, all beneath a shaggy coiffure. Fine layers of brown and green patina envelop this fine example from ancient Rome! Size: 1" W x 2.125" H (2.5 cm x 5.4 cm); 6.625" H (16.8 cm) on included custom stand.
