Medium low dense wool pile on cotton foundation. Hand-knotted Karajeh runner, the madder-red field with a column of alternating stepped star medallions in ivory and rose and dark hexagonal medallions, the ground filled with angular floral sprays, rosettes and small geometric motifs. Multiple borders of serrated leaf and rosette devices on brown and dark grounds, with fringe at both ends. Person, ca. 1970's
Condition
Very Good. Wool pile full and even with only light overall wear; drawing crisp and colors strong, with no low or bare areas, holes or moth damage observed. Fringes present at both ends, clean and trimmed with minor loss; selvedges intact and secure. Reverse shows an even weave with no repairs, patching or reweaving. No staining or water marks noted. Slight irregularity of width and minor waviness along the length, inherent to a village runner; lies acceptably flat.
