• Lot Description
  A large Russian matryoshka nesting doll set, comprising approximately 20 or more pieces ranging from a substantial outer doll down to tiny solid pieces. The decoration is executed in a pyrography (wood-burning) technique with painted highlights, featuring a female face with blonde hair framed by floral motifs in white and silver on a natural wood ground. The body of each doll depicts scenes from Russian folklore including a mounted archer on horseback and other narrative vignettes.
