  Date Shinazaemon and Sakaname Chudonoi. Double woodblock prints in colors on rice paper, with raw silk and rice paper backing, marked and signed: Date Shinazaemon (a Kabuki role name) / Sakaname Chudonoi (a Kabuki role name) / Sashichikoku (the engraving artist’s art name) / Tsujiokaya Bunsuke (a print publisher in Edo period) / March 1854 (publication date) / Censored (this seal serves as proof that the print was cleared for publication) / Toyokuni (the author’s given name). Framed with raw woven silk on rice paper backing under glass in bamboo style carved wooden frame with pigments finish, overall 24-7/8" x 28-7/8".

  Good, some creases, folds and possibly adhesive residues; some wear to frame.
