Ribbon Shelf (wall unit, separate ladder with ladder cover), 1977, Italian poplar vacuum-formed core veneered with American red oak, mounted on countersunk angle iron, ladder is solid red oak, ribbon shelf approximately 23 x 4 x 1 ft. in two parts; ladder and cover approximately 23 ft. x 19 x 6 in.

Note: Alan Lazarus pioneered the stack lamination technique that allowed a versatility to sculptural design. He was taught by Bill Kiser and Wendell Castle, the School of American Craftsmen, later at RIT. Lazarus was also the founder of the furniture design department at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
The work remains installed at the residence of Alice Zimmerman in Nashville, Tennessee. The buyer will be responsible, at their own expense, for coordinating all deinstallation and transportation directly with the consignor. The sections weigh approximately 150 lbs.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
