Three (3) political caricatures from President Andrew Jackson's administration (1829-1837). 1st item: "Rats Leaving a Falling House," 1831, referring to the breakup of Jackson's so-called "Kitchen Cabinet," also known as the Petticoat Affair. 10 1/2" x 8". 2nd item: "Grand Fantastical Parade New York Dec. 2, 1833" by Hassan Straightshanks (possibly a pseudonym for David Claypool Johnson), satirizing Andrew Jackson as a military hero and President, leading one of the local militia displays of the period, with clowns and caricatures of figures including Napoleon and Don Quixote. 19 1/2" x 12 7/8". 3rd item: "The Debilitated Situation of a Monarchal Government when Puffed up by Pride and Self Importance...", a circa 1831 print by an unknown artist referring to negotiations between President Jackson and the King of France, Louise Phillipe, over money owed to the United States following the Napoleonic Wars (1803 to 1815). 19 3/4" x 16 1/2".
