.577 caliber, 39" barrel, no serial number. With proof marks and the number 25 on the left side of the barrel. Forward action lockplate marked 1862 Tower with crown proof. With three barrel bands, nipple protector and brass triggerguard, buttplate and fore end cap.
The bore has some pitting. The barrel has a rich plum patina. The stock has handling marks normal of a service rifle of this age, along with a crack near the buttplate. The ramrod is missing. Someone has carved their initials into the butt.
