- Lot Description
Charleston Mercury. Charleston, SC: January 28, 1861. Vol. LVI, Issue No. 11,072. 4pp, 20.5 x 26 in.
The front page features an early illustration of the South Carolina flag with a short article of its ratification, which reads, "On Saturday last both houses of the General Assembly finally concurred the design of the flag which is hereafter to represent the sovereign nation of South Carolina." It goes on to describe in further detail the colors and design of the flag.
Condition
Outer margin laid on acid free paper, folds, minor tears on the margin, and damp stains.
Item is in good condition with some loss to molding and cockbeading. Original hardware.
