Collection: Property from a Prominent New Jersey CollectionTHE ARTIST'S MOTHER SEATED (BARTSCH, HOLLSTEIN 343; HIND 52; NEW HOLLSTEIN 91) Etching, circa 1631, on laid paper with Posthorn watermark with pendant Letters HB (Hinterding A-a-b; dated circa 1632), a very fine impression of the second state of three, with small margins, framed. Plate 5 7/8 x 5 1/8 inches; 149 x 130 mm Sheet 5 15/16 x 5 1/4 inches; 151 x 133 mm Frame 11 5/8 x 10 3/4 inches; 295 x 273 mm Provenance: Edward Rudge (1763-1846), Abbey Manor, Evesham, Worcestershire, and London (see Lugt 900); thence by descent to his great-grandson John Edward Rudge (1903-1970); Christie's, London, December 16-17, 1924, lot 307 (£ 115.70; sold to Dunthorne) With Robert Dunthorne (1881- circa 1930s), London and Liverpool (not in Lugt) James H. Lockhart (1912-2002), Pittsburgh and Geneseo, New York (Lugt 4387); presumably sold privately after 1959 With R. M.
