• Lot Description

  Outdoor group albumen CDV portrait. [Minnesota]: Benjamin F. Upton, circa 1865.  Photographer’s imprint to mount verso alongside 2-cent revenue stamp.

  
  With the bride and groom assumedly seated at the front of the party, the photograph depicts a Chippewa wedding. The subjects, four Native Americans of the Chippewa Nations, are seated on a hill. They gaze in varying directions, with seemingly none of them looking into the photographer's lens.
