Partly printed document completed in manuscript. Richmond, Virginia, 12 November 1862. 1 page, approx. 5 1/2 x 4 3/8 in.
A receipt made out to W. Meador, a slave owner for the use of his slave Bob "for work on fortifications at and near this city.
A William Meader of Cumberland, Virginia, is listed in the 1860 Federal Slave Schedule as enslaving 7 individuals, including two men ages 21 and 35. Perhaps one of these men was Bob.
