- Lot Description
Striped wool petticoat. Various shades of green with red stripes. Blue and white twisted ties are secured underneath cotton patches. With pair of button-on suspenders. Likely mid-19th century. Waistline approx. 15 1/2 in., hemline approx. 40 in., full petticoat length approx. 33 1/2 in.
A very loved wool petticoat. While there are some holes and frayed ends, it is evident that there have been attempts to patch this petticoat so it can live a longer life. Its dark red stripes along the bottom are complementary with the two shades of green, one more olive and the other more sea foam. The suspenders would have made this a secure petticoat once they were buttoned into place.
