- Lot Description
A Dagestani kindjal with a double-edged, pointy blade and one deep fuller. The hilt is of carved horn set with silver and niello rivets. The scabbard of wood wrapped in leather and mounted with silver and niello mounts with floral motifs. The silver throat is marked with the 84 silver proof and kokoshnik mark. There is a niello-applied crown on the recto of the throat.
Russia, late 19th century.
L: 23 in., (58.5 cm.)
Condition
Good condition overall. Blade still sharp and tight to hilt. Scabbard leather is lightly scratched. Silver ball to tip of scabbard with a dent.
