A lidded casket or chest constructed of a steel body, entirely damascened with gold and silver (koftgari) inlaid floral designs and Persian/Arabic calligraphy. The calligraphy on the upper band includes decorative Nasta‘liq or Thuluth script, used in Qajar ceremonial art. The ornamentation and script are symmetrical and dense, consistent with luxury metalwork from the Qajar court and noble workshops.
Origin: Qajar Persia (likely Isfahan, Shiraz, or Tabriz workshop), ca. 1800–1880 (Qajar Dynasty, 1789–1925).

Condition
Very good, with minor loss of inlay in high-relief areas. Beautiful, consistent patination. Engraving and script are still legible and aesthetically rich, important for both collector and academic value.
The original key is present, the lock is fully functional.
