A Russian jewelry or trinket box made of carved and polished Karelian birch wood. The piece rests on silver ball feet. The front side and the hinged lid are decorated with silver overlay representing the Imperial Eagle, a combined monogram of the emperors Alexander I and Nicholas II, and floral garlands. The overlay is accentuated with cobalt blue enamel and amethyst cabochons. The interior is lined with velvet. Marked I.A. Zubarev in Vyatka on the backside. Hallmarks of 84 and 88 silver standard, makers marks are on each silver part. Vyatka, modern day Kirov, is a Russian town known for its folk craft production of burl boxes with secret compartments7 1/2 x 4 3/8 x 5 in., (19.1 x 11.1 x 12.7 cm.)
