A pair of carved black forest-style figural figures currently functioning as candlesticks, their form and flat bases strongly suggest that they may have originally served as decorative support elements or uprights on a larger piece of furniture, such as a kitchen cabinet or buffet/hutch, particularly one in a rustic or Alpine farmhouse style. Black Forest style, known for its naturalistic and folkloric carving, especially from the Brienz region.H: 23 1/2 in., (59.5 cm.)Very good with expected signs of wear and use consistent with the age.
