A finely cast and detailed pair of bronze pheasants, captured in dynamic, animated poses: one pheasant (likely the male) stands with its tail dramatically raised and beak open in mid-call. The second (likely the female) crouches with wings lifted in a defensive or mating pose, beak slightly parted.
The craftsmanship is consistent with the Vienna Bronze school, known for its superb small-scale representations of animals, often highly realistic and richly detailed. The fine chasing on the feathers and expressive postures demonstrate the artisan's skill.
While this pair is not cold-painted in polychrome, they retain a rich golden-brown patina with subtle gilded highlights, which was also typical for certain naturalistic bronzes of the period.
Vienna, Austria, late 19th to early 20th century.H: 14 in., (35.5 cm.)
Condition
Patina is well preserved, with some minor wear consistent with age. One tail has a small crack.
