- Lot Description
An Early 17th-century Flemish ebony veneered table cabinet. This European monetary chest has a pair of frontal panel cupboard doors, eight drawers and a central compartment ornate with architectural baroque twisted columns. The lower part of the cabinet is a locked compartment. The upper part is a lidded box. The inner surface of each drawer and compartment is currently covered with handmade marble paper, an addition from the late 19th century.
H: 22 1/4 in., (56.5 cm.); W: 19 3/4 in., (50.5 cm.)
Condition
Very good. Surface wear and signs of aging as expected for its age, especially at the edges and corners. Sides presenting craquelure. The marble paper lining is a 19th c. replacement from the original.
