- Lot Description
An Ottoman yataghan affixed with horn grip scales in the characteristic style of the Zeybek people, with their flattened, horizontal, eared pommel. The border of the pommel and the spine of the blade are chased with geometric patterning. The forte of the blade is also stamped with two circular marks containing Arabic inscriptions.
Ottoman Empire, 19th century.
L: 30 in., (76.2 cm.)
Condition
Good, with grip scales well attached. Blade with expected signs of pitting due to age. Leather slightly worn.
