MID-ATLANTIC MONUMENTAL DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately ten-gallon capacity, semi-ovoid form with three incised shoulder rings, arched handles, deep collar, and squared rim. Elaborate brushed cobalt grapevine with hanging grape clusters on one side, and 12-blossom floral decoration on the other, additional three-blossom flowers below each handle. Probably Pennsylvania. Circa 1840-1860. 19" H, 11" D rim. Provenance: The collection of Ronnie and Neal Kite of Esmont, VA.

Good as-found condition, several shallow chips to rim, single chip to the underside of each handle, crack to lower half of body off base, small drain hole punched in base.
