Context
Paul Storr (1771–1844) stands as the preeminent silversmith of the Georgian and Regency periods, famed for his technical brilliance and bold neoclassical designs. His work for the Crown and for Britain’s leading aristocratic families set the highest standard of English silver. Cake baskets such as the present example combined elegance with function, serving both as table adornments and as celebratory presentation pieces. The engraved arms link this example to the distinguished Chetwynd family of Grendon Hall, enhancing its historic and collectible significance.
