· Dale Chihuly is considered the single most important contemporary artist working in glass today. It was through his own personal vision that he has been responsible for transforming the scope and reputation of blown glass as a medium for fine art.
· He received his MFA in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design, where he then developed the glass program, and taught for the following 10 years.
· The recipient of a prodigious number of awards, Chihuly was honored as the first National Living Treasure of the United States in 1992. His projects have proliferated in galleries, museums and site-specific installations.
