- Lot Description
Offered here is a classic 1920s Buddy “L” pile driver toy truck, a highly sought-after example of early American pressed steel construction toys made by the Moline Pressed Steel Company of East Moline, Illinois. This substantial piece features its original black paint with a striking red corrugated roof, clearly marked “Buddy ‘L’ Pile Driver” and retaining the original “Buddy ‘L’ Line Quality Toys” decal on the side. The model is complete with its distinctive vertical pile-driving mast, string and pulley system, and hand-operated mechanism, all of which remain intact and display nicely. The toy shows honest age-appropriate wear including scuffs, light paint loss, and surface dust consistent with decades of storage, but overall presents very well with strong eye appeal. A wonderful and increasingly scarce early Buddy L construction toy, perfect for collectors of antique pressed steel vehicles or industrial-themed toys. Approx. dimensions (in): 9.5 x 8.75 x 24.
