A refined Japanese woodblock print by Imao Keinen (1845–1924), depicting a graceful white heron standing in shallow water beside delicate reeds. Rendered in the elegant naturalistic style associated with the Shijō school, the composition emphasizes fine line work and subtle tonal variation, capturing both the quiet stillness of the bird and its surrounding environment. This work relates to Keinen’s celebrated Keinen Kachō Gafu (Album of Birds and Flowers), originally issued in the late 19th century and widely admired for its detailed studies of flora and fauna. The print is presented in a simple wooden frame with matting; the sheet shows light toning consistent with age, while the verso retains a gallery label from La Portantina Grafica Antica, Milan. A classic example of Meiji-period kachō-ga (bird-and-flower prints), appealing for its balance, delicacy, and timeless subject matter. Approx. frame size (in): 23.75 x 17.75 x 1, Approx. print size (in): 12.5 x 8.75.
