A colorful Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print attributed to Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798–1861), depicting a dramatic kabuki theater scene with two elaborately dressed figures, one kneeling beneath a large black parasol and the other posed behind with a sword at his side. The composition features strong blue, red, yellow, and black pigments, with calligraphic cartouches, publisher/seal marks, and Kuniyoshi’s signature area visible in the lower left. The print is presented under matting in a black frame, with the backing bearing a handwritten birthday inscription dated January 7, 1978. Condition shows expected age toning, light fading, minor spots, and mat/frame wear, but the image remains visually striking and decorative. An appealing example of 19th-century Japanese kabuki actor imagery by one of the most celebrated masters of the Utagawa school. Approx. frame size (in): 20.5 x 15 x 0.5, Approx. painting size (in): 13.75 x 9.5.
