[BASEBALL]. ?Catcher.? [Ca. early 20th century]. Humorous lithograph depicting a catcher being struck in his mid-section by a baseball, with a poem below. Approximately 9 ? x 7?. Some toning, some faint creasing at corners, upper left corner lightly chipped. Very good. ?You knotty-fingered, awkward brute, You wear a pad, beneath your band, For in your stomach still, you catch, The ball more often than your hand! Although you make a great pretense, Of stooping down and watching round; Your butter-fingers drop the ball, Tho? in your very hands it bounds.? An excellent example of this rare and charming lithograph. From the Mark Rucker Collection.
