[EUCLID (b. 300)]. The English Euclide being the First Six Elements of Geometry, Translated out of the Greek with Annotations and useful Supplements by Edmund Scarburgh. Oxford: Printed at the Theater, 1705. FIRST EDITION of Scarburgh?s (1616-1694) handsomely printed translation, published from his manuscript by his son. John Evelyn described Scarburgh?s library as ?the very best collection, especially of mathematical books, that was, I believe, in Europe?. THE MOST ELEGANT EDITION OF EUCLID IN ENGLISH.
