Profusely illustrated. 601, [1, blank] pp. Publisher's full burgundy cloth, front board and spine lettered in gilt, marbled endleaves (recased, spine a bit toned, with some light scratching and edgewear, light edgewear to corners). Still fine, uncommon in this condition. FIRST EDITION OF THE MEMOIR OF LINCOLN'S CLOSE FRIEND. Whitney's accuracy and veracity has been occasionally called into question. Howes W386.
