Penny "Simplex 'Electricity Is Life'" Electric Shock Machine. Detroit: Caille Bros., ca. 1900s. Cast iron cabinet on stand with faux marble column and elaborate cast iron base. Glass front, with padlock at top of cabinet (key included). "Electricity Is Life" placard at front and the "Simplex" logo beneath. Two grip handles, one to adjust the level of current, and with an adjustment switch. With penny coin-slot. Restored. Approximately 57 x 17 x 17. Mechanism includes two slots for modern D-cell batteries. A scarce penny arcade machine.
"Grasp both knobs and turn right hand gradually to increase current as desired / A most excellent treatment for rheumatism, headache, neuralgia, nervousness, debility, and all nervous disorders." Third party shipping or pick-up required.
