A complete and authentic issue of The Gentleman’s Magazine November 1778, 56, pp. An 11 page article “Advices Received From Americaâ€provides a round up of several engagements of the War. Included, “In the morning of the 30th, I received from his Excellency Gen. Washington giving me notice that Gen. Howe had again failed with the fleet ... At Falmouth, 2 sloops and a schooner taken ... Martha’s Vineyard, 1 Brig and a schooner burned; 23 whaling ships destroyed ... “ In a brief letter, Cambridge June 17th, 1778 in part “Murder and death have taken place. An officer from the barracks of Prospect Hill has been shot by an American centennial ... “ ... and the French Bread Riot inquiry ..â€On the 23rd of September a desperate riot happen in Boston .. occasioned by the bakers denying bread to the captured seamen of the British vessels ... Several killed ..â€
