Lithograph print with three stylized zebras in mid-gallop against a background of broad grey horizontal stripes and a single, bright yellow sun. Signed lower right. Numbered 64/275 lower left. Certificate of authenticity verso.

Llewellyn DeCarlo (1925–1981) was an American painter known for his atmospheric landscapes and expressive interpretations of coastal and rural scenes. Working primarily in oils, DeCarlo developed a style that blended elements of realism with impressionistic brushwork, emphasizing light, mood, and the changing character of natural settings. His paintings often depicted shoreline views, harbors, and pastoral environments, reflecting a deep appreciation for the American landscape. During his career he exhibited regionally and built a reputation among collectors for works that captured both the structure and feeling of place. Though not widely known in the national modernist canon, DeCarlo’s paintings continue to be appreciated for their painterly energy and evocative treatment of landscape.
