- Lot Description
During the shift from the Dead Ball Era to the contemporary power game, a particular World Series match-up showcased both styles of teams. The 1921 World Series featured Babe Ruth's power-driven Yankees competing against John McGraw's Giants, with the Giants ultimately claiming victory in the best-of-nine series. Presented here is an original photograph of the 1921 World Series champion New York Giants.
The 8x10 photo is exceptionally clean and possesses remarkable clarity. There is some yellow toning on the lower section and ample wear on the white borders, but the players are all easily recognizable. Hall of Famers include 1B George "High Pockets" Kelly (led NL with 23 HR), 3B Frankie Frisch (led NL with 49 SB), SS Dave Bancroft, and utility OF Casey Stengel who would later earn his striped as Yankees skipper. Encapsulated Type 1 by PSA/DNA.
